Andrea is in the hospital
01.20.07 (8:03 pm)   [edit]
Hi, This is from Andrea's husband John. On 1/11, Andrea suffered a brain hemorrhage. We coulda lost her! Her recovery will take some time, so she will probably not be posting for a while. She is currently in the ICU, and hopefully will be in a regular hospital room soon. I am compiling an email list which I will use to post status updates every now and then. If you want to be added to the list, please send an email to kelso at bev dot net, and indicate you're one of her blogger friends. I'll send you the compiled past email messages as well as new updates. I know when she pops out of the other side of this, she will want to reconnect. John Kelso

What Is This Dread?
01.02.07 (11:40 pm)   [edit]
There's something about *dread* That launches from the solar plexus With ghostly fingers, rising as if with helium Finally to leap from nostrils, eyes and ears - bringing soft faint.

Many children know *dread* It starts about mid-day on Sundays Rising like the barometric pressure Accompanied with gloom like that cloudy day Finally bursting with Monday's end.

What are the paths and haunts of *dread*? Will it inhabit all of God's creatures? Are the pangs as distracting to one as to others? Does it always fancy a slow walk to gallows? How then, does relief come so reliably within 24 hours?

How like lovesickness is *dread*! Launching from the solar plexus What countless silly people fashion as "butterflies" Deep longing for what is not yet, yet whispers into mine ears alone. That cusp where possibility promises ecstasy or doom ...

Ah, yes, the tipping, swaying, nauseating ride with *dread*.
